Marcelo Claure is Partner and Co-Chair at Brightstar Capital Partners. He is actively engaged across many aspects of the firm, including deal origination, capital formation, and value creation initiatives. Marcelo brings deep expertise in artificial intelligence, operational leadership, and global investing to Brightstar’s mission of partnering with families, founders, and entrepreneurs.

Marcelo’s role at Brightstar builds on a decades-long professional history that intersects with the firm’s founding. He previously worked alongside Brightstar Founder and CEO Andrew Weinberg at Brightstar Corp., the global wireless distribution company Marcelo founded in 1997. During the Great Recession, they led the company through a critical period of growth, ultimately building it into the world’s largest phone distribution company. Following the company’s acquisition by SoftBank in 2014, Marcelo continued his career leading major global enterprises.

Marcelo is the Founder and CEO of Claure Group, a multi-billion-dollar investment firm. Marcelo also serves as Group Vice Chairman of SHEIN, Chairman of Bicycle Capital, and Co-Chairman of the Harvard Business School AI Institute (D^3). He is the largest independent shareholder and a board member of T-Mobile, where he plays an active role in the company’s AI transformation.

Marcelo previously served as CEO of SoftBank Group International, overseeing a $450 billion portfolio. Earlier, as CEO of Sprint, he led the company’s turnaround and its $26 billion merger with T-Mobile in 2020.

Marcelo holds a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Bentley University and honorary doctorates from Bentley University and Babson College. He is also an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School.
