John Cowles is an advisor to Best Choice Roofing.
John is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of TruGreen, where he led a digital modernization effort aimed at enhancing both customer and employee experience. From 2018 to 2023, he oversaw improvements in revenue growth, operational performance, and team development, while supporting long-term retention and ownership transition.
John is known for his ability to lead organizations through periods of change. Prior to TruGreen, he led three private equity–backed companies—FXI, Touchstone Wireless, and George Weston Bakeries—through strategic initiatives focused on operational improvement and business transformation. In each role, he introduced new business models, improved employee engagement, and identified opportunities that contributed to business performance.
Earlier in his career, John held leadership roles at Kraft Foods and Campbell Soup Company, where he guided large business units to stronger performance by focusing on growth, brand value, and marketing strategies aligned with consumer needs.
Outside of his executive work, John supports organizations that expand opportunities for diverse young adults. He is actively involved with First Tee supporting programs that foster personal and professional development.
John earned his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
